Sophie has always sought to express herself through the medium of the visual. It is perhaps unsurprising then that her art is a deeply personal one that explores themes of dreaming, longing and nostalgia. The muted, harmonious tones of her palette reflect this and have come to characterise her work.

Stylistically, Sophie has always been drawn toward abstraction, a mode she feels is best suited for her expression. This is not however, at the expense of the figurative. Character study is important to her, and a desire to capture a likeness in the figures she paints has proven a recurring theme throughout her career. Time and place are central subjects in her work as she seeks inspiration from past emotional experiences and a life characterised by travel.
